Important events in the scientific and medical evolution of therapy are reviewed in the context of their effects on treatment available to our ancestors. The significance of local epidemic and pandemic diseases is discussed, as well as alternative systems of medicine, available pharmaceutical products, and alternative names for conditions, diseases, and causes of death.
