Today, Germany is one of the world's most advanced and influential countries. However, for most of its history Germany was a myriad of tiny bickering principalities whose favorite sport was to fight among one another. That all changed in the middle of the19th century by a unity forged in blood and struggle led by Otto von Bismarck. What are the implications of the events that led to the creation of the German Empire and what can we learn from them?
