Old documents are sometimes a challenge. The handwriting can be difficult to read and understand, this class is a chance to get ahead of this challenge. Please bring along a pencil and paper. This class covers: learning to read letters, words and phrases in old documents; early writing materials; forms of the alphabet; Yogh and Thorn; recognizing different styles of letters; techniques for reading old handwriting; simple contractions and abbreviations. Be flexible with spelling. By the end of the session participants will have the skills to read examples of early handwriting.
