Spanish Advanced

Program Description

Are you ready to expand your knowledge of Spanish language and culture, as well as exchange ideas with peers including among others the present, past and future tenses? Do you have an estimated 160 to 200 hours in beginner and intermediate courses or immersion? At this level you can improve your Spanish language skills to be used in a variety of situations and for a variety of purposes; use Spanish effectively and competently; maximize the effectiveness of language learning strategies and explore the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world through selected literary pieces and current events in an enjoyable and friendly setting. Fee: $150.00 Schedule: 10 Wednesdays, September 21 to November 23 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm Location: Robert A. Steen Community Centre, 980 Palmerston Avenue Instructor Rossana McCormack is a Spanish Teacher and Interpreter. Rossana was born in Lima, Peru. She got her B.Ed. and Licenciatura at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP), and her M.Ed. at Gallaudet University in Washington D.C. She has taught Spanish at university, high school and adult education levels. Her experience includes; in Peru she worked in a PUCP/University of Winnipeg Teacher Training Project funded by CIDA working in shantytowns; in Manitoba, she has worked as a Spanish course developer for Manitoba Education as well in the implementation of the Manitoba Spanish Curriculum. She is also a freelance conference interpreter. Rossana was the Honorary Consul for Peru in Winnipeg for the provinces of Manitoba and Saskatchewan from 1998 to 2010. She has been teaching at Creative Retirement since 2002. She enjoys teaching different age groups and gets energized by her students!
