Former US President Donald Trump was a severe critic of numerous international institutions such as NATO, the World Trade Organization, and the United Nations. Many commentators feared his presidency would lead to the repudiation of established international norms in many different areas. His focus is on the intersection of international relations and international law. He is the author of the book ‘The Persistence of Reciprocity in International Humanitarian Law’ (Cambridge University Press, 2019).
